Research Group: Biopolitics, Ontology and Aesthetics of Media – Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf

Activities and research

Our research group intends to explore and discuss theoretical and political discourses emerging in the context of material processes and culture performances including theory of literature and arts. The interdisciplinary approach on literature and visual culture combines in several manner cultural and translation studies, philosophy, cinema studies focusing on aesthetic approaches in relation to biopolitical questions. Our primary goal is to promote unsettling theoretical encounters by organizing workshops, talks, conferences, and public debates. Individually or as part of research collaborations, the members of the research group have already disseminated their work in book forms, journal articles and conference papers. We intend to organize a conference in Düsseldorf in 2018 and in Buenos Aires in 2019 (in cooperation with Edgardo Castro, Costanza Serratore und Daniel Link).
