Ars

Arts, Technologies, Media

The research group investigates the current relevance of the concept “ars”, which is one of the first articulations of the relationship between art, technology and media as autonomous language of the senses, in the light of recent theoretical instruments of the Italian Thought and the present aesthetic debate. Through the analysis of mediatic practices and recent critical recognitions of paradigmatic aesthetic concepts – among others: creation/production, work of art, medium and technology – the group aims to create a new platform for the discussion of different positions and dialogue. The actual negotiation of limits and strategies in new artistic practices, media and technologies raise the question of an operational aesthetics, which produces and at the same time explores the possibilities of art in its interaction and (possible) indistinction with new ways of organization of the sense(s) through bodies, spaces, matters and thought.

In order to (re-)elaborate a semantic of “ars” the research group focuses on the following disciplinary subjects: Aesthetics, Theory of Art and Media, Philosophy of Technology, Cultural Studies.

We are planning a conference in Essen in 2022.
